I recently wrote about my BRILLIANT, BOLD, WARRIOR cousin, Jenifer Bomchel Rotenstreich. Jen left us on Wednesday, December 22, 2010. She was only 39 years young.
I talk about Jen all the time, and yes, I talk to her often, too! But writing and sharing in print, NEVER.

**To be abundantly clear, suicide prevention requires vigilance, even when fear wants to silence us. NO ONE IS IMMUNE!
Since August, learners around the world have sent private messages on various social media platforms . . .
🎒 When will life stop being so hard? I can hardly catch my breath (15 years old)
😢 I feel so unsafe crying or even showing emotion. My parents never show their feelings. If I cry, they tell me stop because I'm an "adult," not a baby. Is there something wrong with me? (22 years old)
🍫 People in my grade are calling me fat. I'm not fat; I'm sick. My doctors are helping me talk about my emotions instead of eating. I wish school would help. (12 years old)
🦷 I saw you had jaw surgery. When did you start having problems? Would you mind sharing more about your process? (20 years old)
📖 I AM SO ANGRY! But, I can't tell anyone. I was excluded from International Day of Literacy. "Gender Queer" is my favorite book, and my teacher told me to put the book away. I ASKED why, and she snapped, "Do you seriously think I'm allowing you to share a book about sexuality and gender in my class?" UMMM HELLO, are we living in a bubble? (age 13)
