Curiosity is SCIENCE!

Evoking authentic curiosity starts by showing up as a scientist.👩🏻‍🔬

Curiosity is the act of not knowing with deliberate intentions to discover, explore, and grow. Choosing to live as a scientist purposefully provides space for curiosity.

However, when our science hat slips off, we can easily fall into a space of doubt, judgement, and shame.

  • When hearing a question, do you hear curiosity or judgement?

  • When an event goes awry, do you see endless possibilities for what’s to come or do anxiety-ridden narratives spiral in your brain?

  • When devising a new program, do you feel electric or doubtful, preventing you from showing up?

Each question intentionally propels one to stop and pause. Thus, inviting you to honestly reflect and own when you're wearing your science hat securely.

3 Essential Tips on Living Curiously:
🗣 We are aware of how we speak internally.
⚖️ We consider all perspectives when conversing.
🔓 We choose to remain open and available.

As you consciously model living as a scientist, you organically guide your child to do the same. Whenever your science hat feels loose, take a pulse. Check-in to see how you're feeling and what you’re thinking. Then, do the same with your child. Every moment is an opportunity to live as a scientist.

Learning HOW to get curious with yourself will lead your children to question, wonder, explore, and discover. Curious to learn more? Let’s Talk!

WHAT LEARNERS ARE SAYING ABOUT DEED!

I can’t thank Ms. Dana enough for what she’s done for me the past few years. Starting at a young age, Ms. Dana started tutoring me when I was in Pre-k. The next year, I got accepted into PS 33, where I was in Ms. Dana’s class. In class, she pushed me out of my comfort zone, knowing that I would thrive there. I started learning and growing a lot more. Throughout my years at PS 33, Ms. Dana has helped me every step of the way, always pushing me to my full potential. Even when she left PS 33, she would help me with my writing skills. At the end of 5th grade, when I started looking and applying for middle schools, she helped me with my applications, showing me how I could grow as a writer, reader, and thinker. She helped me prepare for the ISEE tests in the matter of a few months. I wrote essays for schools, with her analyzing every detail that I wrote and helping me see what I could improve on. With her help, I got accepted into Horace Mann, a private school in the Bronx. Without Ms. Dana, I wouldn’t know where I would be right now. I am so thankful for her help and have learned a lot from her.        ~Nara Brunink, 7th grade
