SELF-BETRAYAL IS REAL!

Dear World, 

My dream of becoming an educator ignited in kindergarten. If I’m honest, my teacher, Mrs Young gave me peppermints and let me stay inside with her during recess. Sounds sweet, but I didn’t want to go outside. I was safe inside. 

When I think back to moments in childhood, I always share about my favorite dress and matching hat and eating ice cream with my great uncle. Yes, I intentionally hid the shameful and hurtful moments and words. However, the more I held in, the more icky I felt.

Becoming an educator required me to use my voice, MY POSITIVELY POWERFUL VOICE! I share my experiences with children, parents, their families, and communities globally; hiding and staying quiet is NOT an option! 

UNCOMFORTABLE conversations are absolutely critical when intentionally making an impact in the world. As a collective, WE MUST CHOOSE to engage, get curious, and live from the space of WE CAN DO MORE!
