Labels . . . What's yours?
Chaos . . . Clean . . .🤔
Dear World,
Walking in a room with ease is a desire for most. However, feeling calm and light as our body sends billions of signals, activating our heartbeat, breathing, and muscle twitches may actually be your current reality.
Ever wonder about the thoughts and feelings others experience in tandem to you?
While in the classroom, I LOVED watching explorers create, construct, bulldoze, redesign, and then, the big KABOOM when the infamous words “time to clean up” resounded in our space.
Play, exploration, and discovery are essential ingredients in social, emotional, and cognitive development. However, play can also exacerbate anxiety, confusion, and sensory overload.
Let’s get curious!
When looking at the two images, what surfaced within YOU?
đź’ˇJOY!
đź’ˇMAYHEM!
đź’ˇBRILLIANCE!
đź’ˇUGGGGGGG!
đź’ˇHIDE!
As a collective, society has trickled down assumptions and biases. And, yet, curiouisity has been left to the side.
Next time your mind takes you to a place of assumption and/or judgement, PAUSE. Get curious! Ask the uncomfortable question.
The two images are more than chaos and clean. I’m gifting you a small glimmer into life with an invisible disability: ADHD.
Once I realized the table was overloaded . . .
đź’«I chose to breathe.
đź’«I chose to remove the labels.
đź’«I chose to implement coping and organizational skills.
đź’«I chose to release self-judgement.
🦋Most critically, I choose to share with YOU!
When similar scenarios surface, taking you to the land of assumptions and judgements, intentionally pause and breathe slowly. You organically create space to ask the uncomfortable question!
Love,

P.S. As YOU continue to courageously make choices, discoveries, AND changes, YOU inspire others to do so, too!
Do a good DEED, and pass along my email!
WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING ABOUT DEED!
Dana Kaplan is truly a one-of-a-kind teacher. I can say this with confidence, with 2 children and many teachers since we stepped into her classroom 8 years ago. I have never experienced anyone more passionate about seeing children succeed, and by succeed I don’t mean just academically. She pours out her soul to giving you her best. She embraces a whole child learning model in the very best way and has a true gift for pushing children to be the best version of themselves, and has done so for mine. We are so fortunate and blessed to enter into Dana’s new world of learning and have this opportunity to continue on this journey with her.
